A birthday celebration

Yesterday was Brandon's birthday! He said he did not want to do anything or make it a big deal. Kolton and I decided to have a mini-celebration and the house. We had a fantastic time. Here is a little bit from our day...

We started the morning with omelets and presents before he had to go to work. Kolton's eyes lit up when he saw the presents on the table... he thought they were all for him!!

Later that evening I made him a surprise birthday dinner... steak and crab legs!! YUM!! I actually stood in the cold and didn't leave the grill because I was afraid I would overcook the steaks!! That's love!

We also ate lots of cup cakes! What a good day!

*The cupcakes were very yummy and very easy to make. Here is the recipe:

Buttermilk Orange Cupcakes

Cupcakes
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup buttermilk

Cream butter and sugar, adding eggs one at a time. Sift in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Fill muffin pans. Bake at 375 degrees F for 12 minutes. As soon as removed from oven, add sauce.

Orange Sauce
Juice of 2 oranges
Grated rind of 1 orange
1 cup granulated sugar

Mix and cook ingredients until sugar is dissolved. Spoon 1 teaspoon orange sauce over each cake when removed from oven but still in pans.

Happy Birthday Brandon... We LOVE you!!
